Tomorrow morning, the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight will depart General Mitchell International Airport for Washington, DC. The Honor Flight is an amazing opportunity for veterans of World War II to see their memorials in Washington, DC. With each passing day, we lose 900 brave men and women who served our country as part of the Greatest Generation. This flight is one way each of us can express our gratitude for their sacrifice.
When the Honor Flight returns to Milwaukee tomorrow night at approximately 8:00pm, you have the opportunity to greet and celebrate these heroes along with thousands of other thankful Americans at the airport.
Right now, you can connect and keep up with the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight on their Facebook page. Look for updates tomorrow on Facebook as the veterans travel around Washington, DC.
If you weren't aware, 620 WTMJ and Charlie Sykes have played a major role in fundraising and promoting the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. One more flight is planned for May 14, 2011. So far, over 1,000 veterans have flown out of Wisconsin on the Honor Flight. You can help by volunteering your time, or helping fund the flights. Courtney Lutz will be making her fourth trip with the veterans tomorrow, and Holly Nelson will be on the second flight departing Milwaukee for her first trip to Washington, DC. I'll have some of their favorite images posted early next week, but here are links to images from some of the previous trips.
